Good fats versus bad fats

Most people think that avoiding all fat is the path to true health. We all know the important role that proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals play in our nutrition, but there are two substances that can only be found in fat which are just as vital to our survival. These are the omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, known as Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) because although every living cell in the body needs them the body cannot create them on its own. Your only source of these EFAs is by direct food intake.

The key to health from fats lies in ingesting the essential ones in the proper ratio. This isn't usually achieved as the average diet is too high in omega 6 and very low in omega 3.
