Moisturising your neck?

Moisturising your neck? Really?

It might sound a little odd at first, but yes, your neck absolutely deserves a spot in your skincare routine. Some people treat it like an afterthought, while others give it the same care as their face. Either way, it is one area that often gets left behind, even though it needs just as much love. Here is why you should start paying attention to your neck now, before it starts telling your age before you do.

1. The skin is thinner than you think

The skin on your neck is more delicate than it looks. It is actually closer to your eyelids in thickness, which means it is more prone to wrinkles, dryness and sensitivity. It also has less collagen than your face, making it quicker to show signs of ageing. If you are using actives like AHAs, BHAs or retinol, be cautious, your neck can react faster than your face. We always suggest easing into these ingredients slowly to avoid unnecessary irritation. Think of it like training wheels for your skincare.

2. It does not make its own moisture
Your neck has fewer oil glands, so it does not naturally stay hydrated the way your face might. Without that natural moisture, the skin can become dry and crepey, which is exactly why you need to moisturise it consistently. A glowing face and a sun damaged neck? Not the most natural look. And remember, SPF is not just for your cheeks. Apply it from just under your chin right down to where your clothing starts. Every single day.
3. The platysma muscle is working overtime
This is the muscle that stretches from your jaw to your collarbone. It gets a workout every time you laugh, talk or train. Over time, all that movement (especially when the skin is dry) can lead to sagging. It is not too late to support your skin. You do not need anything fancy, but you do need to be consistent. Go for a moisturiser that supports collagen and elastin, and apply it gently in upward strokes. Never drag the skin downward, we are working against gravity here.
